Master of Education Program
in Teaching English at Primary Education Level

The Master of Education Program in Teaching English at Primary Education Level, Faculty of Education, Suan Dusit University, was collaboratively developed by the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, according to SDU’s educational policy, to develop Thai learners’ English language proficiency up to the level in which they can access learning and lifelong learning and to keep pace with the changes along the trends of international schools and bilingual schools which were rapidly adopted and widely expanded in Thailand.  Most higher education institutions which have developed master’s degree programs in English Language Teaching, principally focus on secondary education rather than elementary education.  As a result, primary schools usually lack personnel with knowledge of and expertise in English language teaching.  However, with its adjustment of instruction to the bilingual education, according to the La-Or Plus project, La-Orutis Demonstration School, Suan Dusit University, has turned to be the appropriate internship place for the students in this M.Ed. program, to develop their English language teaching skills, innovation and research.

The Master of Education Program in Teaching English at Primary Education Level aims to produce graduates with knowledge, understanding of content, knowledge, techniques, and methods of teaching English in elementary education, who should be able to develop relevant research studies, to acquire new knowledge and apply it with English language teaching, as well as management of classroom and English language at the primary level in a variety of ways with effectiveness.
